Purpose of challenge

Recover water that evaporates from storage ponds in a desert environment

Description and expectations

The objective is to recover the water which evaporates from a mining site's water storage ponds, with
a view to its reuse, either by returning the water directly back into the pond, or by redirecting it into a
special circuit to be recovered for use for other purposes on the site, to be defined depending on the
properties of the condensed evaporate.

The solution shall meet the following criteria:

  • Adapted to ponds with a capacity of approx. 100 m x 50 m (or approx. 10,000 m3)
  • Resistant to inclement weather conditions (short rainy season with intense storms and heavy
    precipitation, desert environments, etc.)
  • Minimal energy consumption
  • Durability over time
  • Ease of deployment

The solution shall not interfere with the visual monitoring of ponds, in particular of the fill level and the
condition of the structures.
