Orano celebrates female excellence at the 2025 Women in Industry Awards

Two Orano employees have won awards at the “Trophées des Femmes de l'Industrie” - the French Women in Industry awards - organized each year by French industry magazine L’Usine Nouvelle.

Luz Cely Hostos, Performance and Operations Support Director for the Battery Program, scooped the prestigious “Woman of the Year” award. Alice Leprevost, a nuclear welder at Orano Temis, was awarded the trophy in the “Women of promise” category.

The 2025 edition attracted nearly 180 entries from more than 25 companies across 13 categories, reflecting the growing momentum of gender diversity in French industry.

Luz Cely Hostos emphasizes: “Receiving this award today is a real honor. I have often been one of the few women, sometimes the only one, in a world that is still largely male-dominated. I am more convinced than ever that women have their full place in industry, at all levels, everywhere in the world. My commitment, my passion for working in the field, and my determination to act meaningfully have always pushed me to go further.”

Alice Leprevost adds: "Retraining in welding was an obvious choice for me. My career path may not have been conventional, but my passion, commitment, and motivation have enabled me to achieve excellence in my profession. The recognition I have received with this trophy is proof of that. I hope to show that talent and determination can open any door, regardless of your initial level of education. I believe it is important to emphasize that manual labor also contributes directly to the functioning of the nuclear industry!

Hélène Derrien, Senior Executive Vice President, People & Communications of Orano, present at the event, commented: "I warmly congratulate Luz and Alice on these awards! Diversity and professional equality are strategic pillars at Orano, and I want to reassert here our unwavering commitment to making diversity a driver of performance, innovation, and attractiveness. These awards represent true recognition in the industry, where visibility and recognition of women's careers play a key role in inspiring future generations. I am very happy and proud today of these awards earned by my two colleagues!"

For years, Orano has been taking concrete action to increase the proportion of women in its teams and promote professional equality, with an ambitious target of 31% women in its 2025 recruitment drive. More than 300 female employees benefit each year from dedicated training programs, strengthening their career development and access to senior positions.

Long committed to this cause, in 2023 the group signed an exemplary Gender Equality Agreement, incorporating progressive measures addressing major societal issues: parenthood, combating domestic violence, and supporting gender transitions. In this way, Orano is underscoring its societal leadership and its exemplary role in the transformation of French industry.
