News update on the shipment of MOX fuel

The gantry crane to be used for the loading of the second package of recycled Mox fuel bound for Japan has encountered a technical failure today. This event will delay the departure of the sea transport.

There is no impact on safety or security. As the breakdown cannot be repaired at short notice, Orano NPS, in liaison with the authorities, is organizing the return of the second package to the Orano La Hague site today, pending repair of the gantry crane. The vessel has moved to a holding area in open sea.

Orano NPS teams are mobilized to organize a new shipment for Japan as soon as possible, under the requisite conditions of safety and security.
