AREVA announced today the appointment of Michael McMahon as chief executive officer and Bob Grubb as president and chief operating officer of Transnuclear Inc., a leading provider of dry storage and transportation equipment for the nuclear energy industry. Both appointments are effective Sept. 1.
“Mike and Bob are outstanding leaders. They bring great experience to their leadership roles at Transnuclear Inc., and we look forward to sharing in their continued success. Transnuclear Inc. is America’s leading provider of dry storage equipment for used nuclear fuel – a business with prospects as robust as the systems we produce,” said Jacques Besnainou, CEO of AREVA Inc.
McMahon previously served as U.S. director of international projects, based in France for AREVA’s Back End Business Group, which includes the group’s used fuel management, recycling, transportation and decommissioning activities. Before joining AREVA, he worked as a consultant with McKinsey & Co. and was an officer in the U.S. Navy.
Grubb has nearly 40 years of engineering and management experience in the nuclear and aerospace industries. He has served as acting head of Transnuclear Inc. since March 2011 and as an officer in various capacities with Transnuclear since 1999. In addition, he has played a key role in the response to the situation at the Fukushima site in Japan as part of AREVA’s overall effort. He joined Transnuclear in 1999.
Transnuclear Inc. is part of the AREVA Logistics Business Unit, world-wide leader in transportation and storage of fresh and used fuel with offices in France, Japan and the United States.
