Orano TN, a subsidiary of Orano USA, is a leader in the American market for used nuclear fuel storage, radioactive waste management and fuel transportation logistics.  The company offers a complete line of products and related services to the transportation, storage, and engineering sectors operating in the fuel cycle materials market. 

Orano TN is seeking a Mechanical/Structural Engineer to support the engineering and design work performed to support the design and development of various spent nuclear fuel storage and transport packages. This qualified individual will be responsible for conducting mechanical/structural static and dynamic analyses using either commercial software tools such as ANSYS and LS-DYNA or by hand calculations using classical methods. Solid understanding of linear, non-linear, and dynamic structural analyses is required. Experience with ASME BPVC Section III (or VIII) Design by Stress Analysis is required.

Additional Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform calculations in support of design, development and licensing in the structural discipline.
  • Interface with designers, project engineers and other analytical disciplines (thermal, nuclear, etc.) to ensure the structural integrity of the design.
  • Typical responsibilities include conducting finite element analyses on structures, systems and components using either commercial software tools such as ANSYS and LS-DYNA and/or by hand calculations using classical methods. The types of analyses required are linear and non-linear structural analysis, rigid body dynamics, modes and frequencies.
  • Provide design solutions and verification methods.
  • Participate in team meetings, technical reviews, design reviews, peer reviews and problem-solving meetings.
  • Document structural analysis calculations and prepare related sections of the Safety Analysis Report (SAR) and/or Technical Reports as part of TN AMERICAS LLC’s licensing submittals to the NRC.

Please Note: The provided pay information is a guideline. Your offered salary is based upon experience, qualifications, geographic location, as well as market and business considerations.
Pay Range: $95,000-$120,000 per year

Ideal qualifications

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position:

  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil/Structural) plus a minimum of 3-5 years of related engineering work experience. A Master's degree may be substituted for 1-2 years of related work experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in ANSYS and/or LS-DYNA.
  • Experienced in applying ASME BPVC Section III (or VIII) Design by Stress Analysis provisions on results from FEA.
  • A demonstrated background where quick thinking and problem solving plays a critical role.
  • Excellent organization, planning and priority setting skills
  • Ability to communicate well with regulatory authority and clients.

 

Preferred: > 5 years of reactor site design engineering experience
