Job description

In this role, you’ll bring your expertise and creativity to optimize our uranium milling processes and support exciting mining projects. You’ll collaborate closely with partners, lead important studies, and play a key role in shaping sustainable operations, all while working alongside a supportive team that values innovation and growth. What you’ll accomplish: 
Joint Venture Monitoring
·         Monitor all milling aspects of Joint Ventures not operated by Orano to ensure they are operated in the best interest of Orano
·         Provide internal reporting on JV status (studies, projects/construction and operation)
·         Review and share insights on technical choices, budget proposals, projects approach, etc.
·         Participate in working sessions with JV Partners whenever possible
·         Work closely with Finance Department to provide inputs to JV quarterly forecasts, budgets, and production schedules
·         Visit mine/mill sites on a regular basis        

Study/Project Work
·         Take ownership of process design and optimization studies for the McClean Lake uranium mill
·         Act as liaison between the mill site and the Engineering and Projects department
·         Conduct laboratory or plant scale test work in support of process improvements and engineering projects
·         Get involved in various aspects of process design including process flow sheets, mass balance, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and equipment selection
·         Offer technical supports to the site metallurgists as needed
·         Prepare reports on test work as required
·         Coordinate with external engineering consultants on process design as required
·         Conduct technical/financial evaluations and trade-off studies on mining projects (opening or expansions of existing mines/mills)
·         Guide and actively contribute to conceptual, pre-feasibility and feasibility mining studies (e.g. Midwest)
·         Lead milling aspects for novel mining method development (e.g. SABRE)
·         Assist in construction management activities (e.g. tailings facility)                                        

Life of Mine Plan
·         Develop production and cost (operating, capital and development ) schedule scenarios for LOM planning based on Joint Venture’s production schedules and adapting as required
·         Build budget model and production schedule
·         Work collaboratively with other departments on life of mine planning for McClean Lake as needed

Ideal qualifications

Qualities and skills we’re seeking:

·         A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering and eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGS

·         10 years’ of experience with some experience in mineral processing, particularly uranium milling

·         Must be familiar with MS Office software

·         Working knowledge of PI Vision software is an asset

·         Ability to innovate in the areas of uranium processing with a focus on plant efficiency, capital and operating cost optimization and compliance to environmental regulations

·         Effective analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

·         Well organized with structured approaches

·         Able to develop positive working relationships and work closely and effectively with all team members

 

Work Location & Schedule: 

·         Saskatoon Corporate Office – full time position

·         Regular short trips to McClean Lake or Cameco sites as required
