AREVA Joins Custom Nuclear Fabrication and FirstEnergy in Celebrating Grand Opening of Manufacturing and Maintenance Facility

CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 18, 2015 – Representatives from AREVA today joined Custom Nuclear Fabrication (CNF), FirstEnergy, and Pennsylvania Secretary of Community and Economic Development Dennis Davin to cut the ceremonial ribbon to mark the opening of a manufacturing and maintenance facility in Canonsburg, Pa.

“Governor Wolf is focused on economic development, and today’s announcement that brings high skill jobs to Washington County is an important step toward our goal of creating jobs in Pennsylvania,” said Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Davin. “The work to put this site back in business is commendable, and we are excited about the key role this project will have in improving economic development in Washington County.”

AREVA TN, a division of AREVA, plans to work with CNF to manufacture high-performance used nuclear fuel storage canisters at the Canonsburg facility, where CNF has more than 200,000 square feet of fabrication space alongside FirstEnergy’s new central machine shop.
