AREVA Joins Columbiana Hi Tech for Opening of New Manufacturing Facility

CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 25, 2015 – Columbiana Hi Tech (CHT) recently inaugurated its new manufacturing facility in Kernersville, N.C. To celebrate the occasion, North Carolina Gov. Patrick McCrory cut the ceremonial ribbon alongside Gary Mignogna, AREVA Inc. president and CEO; Greg Vesey, AREVA TN senior vice president; Joe Faldowski, CHT president and COO; and Davis Montgomery, Duke Energy Carolinas district manager.

“CHT’s investment in this fabrication facility demonstrates a great commitment to creating jobs in North Carolina,” said McCrory. “We are proud to have a consortium of companies such as CHT, AREVA and Duke working in our state.”

CHT’s new state-of-the-art, 103,000 sq. ft. component fabrication facility and central machine shop will produce dry shielded canisters for the safe and secure storage of used nuclear fuel at power plants across the country. The expansion also supports AREVA TN, a division of AREVA, in its work to serve U.S. utilities with its high-quality, American-made NUHOMS® dry shielded canisters.
