McClean Lake Operation Wildfire Situation

Wildfires continue to affect northern Saskatchewan, and while the operation is not directly threatened by fire the evolving situation has had some impact on logistics and communications.

McClean Lake Operation is currently running on the SaskPower grid, but may run on generator power when necessary. Road access to the site remains limited. Roads are being opened intermittently to allow essential transports, such as reagents and supplies through, but movement remains very restricted.

Despite the regional challenges, we want to reassure everyone that there are currently no fires in the immediate vicinity of Orano’s operations. There is no risk to the site, and it remains safe for all staff. The McClean Lake mill continues to be operational.

Orano is also taking steps to support employees and their families. Some team members were flown home to assist with evacuations.

Communication at site continues to be a challenge. Mobile cellular and internet service has been intermittent. If employees are unable to report to work or have any questions, please email:

This is a difficult time for many, especially those with family and friends in affected communities. Safety is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as they become available.
