Job description

General Duties:

·         Work with Environmental and Geoscience department to process, interpret and present environmental data.

·         Research/ experimental design to support ongoing programs

·         Embrace and support Operational Excellence efforts and OE Culture

·         Comply with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures

·         Promote and adhere to Orano Canada’s values: Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Respect and People Development, Cohesion and Team Spirit, and Exemplarity, Integrity, Responsibility

 

Environmental Testing:

·         Assist with onsite testing programs coordinating with Engineering and Projects, Environment and Geosciences as required

·         Work closely with consultants and site personnel to coordinate activities and testing

·         Daily collection and management and analysis of environmental data

·         Assist in duties related to contractor management

·         Complete periodic workplace inspections, in conjunction with Orano and / or Contractor HSE personnel

·         Complete sample preparation of solids and liquids samples

·         Potentially complete bench-scale/ field testing under the guidance of Orano personnel

·         Ensure accurate record-keeping of all testing

 

Work Location & Schedule: 

·         4 month placement – May-August

·         Based out of the Saskatoon Office with trips to work at McClean Lake

·         When working in the Saskatoon Office: 8hr work day/40hrs per week

·         When working at the McClean Lake Operation: 11 hour work day, although some activity outside of normal working hours may be required

·         Some physicality will be required for the lifting and processing of samples and other miscellaneous duties

Ideal qualifications

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:

·         Must be enrolled in a Environmental Sciences Chemistry or Engineering (Geological, GeoEnvironmental, Environmental, Chemical) program and entering third or fourth year of study

·         Experience working at a remote mine site or in a laboratory setting is an asset

·         Experience operating ATVs is an asset

·         Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, experience is preferred

·         Experience with Sharepoint intranet collaboration sites is an asset

·         Preference will be given to qualified Residents of Saskatchewan’s North (RSN). Athabasca residents will be given priority

·         Excellent analytical and interpersonal communication skills are required

·         Attention to detail and meticulous record keeping

·         Must be able to work effectively to coordinate with other departments within the company as well as external contractors and consultants

·         Works well independently with good trouble-shooting skill

This position is subject to pre-employment checks including education and criminal record verification. 

Drug and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all safety sensitive positions at Orano Canada.
