Job description

*Must be a resident of the Athabasca Basin

 

Reporting to the Environment Supervisor, this position is responsible for the following duties:

 

Responsibilities include: 

·         Trainee will gain experience by assisting the Environment Technicians

·         Responsibilities after training will include but not limited to;

·         Performing daily inspections

·         Groundwater sampling

·         Surface water sampling

·         Air Monitoring

·         Potable water monitoring

·         Sample preparation and shipping

·         Equipment maintenance and calibration

·         Data entry

·         Comply with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures

·         Embrace and support Operational Excellence efforts and OE Culture

·         Promote and adhere to Orano Canada’s values: Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement,

Work Location & Schedule: 

·         McClean Lake site

·         14 days in and 14 days out rotating schedule

·         Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside or normal working hours may be required

 

 

Fly Day- This position will fly in and fly out on Wednesday

 

Pick-Up Points: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.

Ideal qualifications

 

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:

·         Must be a resident of the Athabasca Basin in Saskatchewan’s north (RSN)

·         Must be pursuing or intend to pursue post-secondary education required for the position of Environment Technician at McClean Lake upon completion of this work term

·         Previous experience operating Snowmobile, ATV, UTV and boats – must pass certification courses on site

·         A Class 5 drivers license or Northern Class 5 license is required

·         Dependable and has the ability to work independently

·         Able to work in a team environment and be able to demonstrate initiative

 

Efforts/Demands of the Position:

·         Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

·         Must be capable of sustained physical activity including: walking, climbing, and lifting

This position is subject to pre-employment checks including education and criminal record verification. 

Drug and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all safety sensitive positions at Orano Canada.
