Join our team as a Senior Synthetic Chemist and play a vital role in safeguarding the integrity of raw materials and sterile drug products. The Synthetic Chemist is responsible for manufacturing products inside a traditional chemistry lab. These products support the business catalog, custom synthesis business, as well as the GMP business. Key responsibilities include developing methods to synthesize compounds, providing internal technical guidance, proposing solutions to complex chemistry problems, and acting as a backup for chemists, as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Synthetic Knowledge:
- Research and design multi-step synthetic routes for targeted compounds
Fundamental familiarity with classic reactions mechanisms and principles
Optimize reaction conditions and troubleshooting synthetic challenges
Characterize products and identify impurities using NMR, LC-MS, LC-QTOF, and related techniques
Laboratory Skills:
- Perform extractions, crystallizations, and chromatographic separations (normal and reverse phase)
Operate and maintain standard chemistry equipment (rotary evaporators, hydrogenation apparatus, chromatography systems, high-vacuum systems, overhead stirrers, etc.)
Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, records, and reports in compliance with company standards
Team Integration:
- Provides technical guidance to Macrocyclics team for problem solving
Generates ideas for new compounds for radio imaging, radiotherapy, and fluorescent applications
Collaborate with colleagues across project teams to ensure timely completion of deliverables
Mentors and develop other chemists

Ideal qualifications
Education & Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. Organic or Synthetic Chemistry, or other discipline with relevant industry experience
- M.S. in Organic or Synthetic Chemistry with 15+ years of relevant industry experience
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong synthetic chemistry skills with demonstrated understanding of reaction mechanisms.
- Hands-on experience with chromatographic separations and purification strategies.
- Familiarity with solvent solubility principles, extraction, and crystallization techniques.
- Exceptional analytical skills.
- Familiarity with the principles of coordination chemistry (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot experiments and adapt to project needs.
Preferred Skills & Competencies:
- Familiarity with the principles of coordination chemistry, metal-ligand design, and complexation kinetics.
- Familiarity with quality systems and GMP protocols for clinical phase drug substances
- Experience handling and working with radionuclides/radiopharmaceuticals
