Recycling, a technology we export

By recycling, Orano recovers useful materials (uranium and plutonium) from spent fuel and reuses them in new fuels such as MOX, and thus in nuclear reactors.
Orano’s technologies allow 96% of spent nuclear fuel from the reactors to be recycled. The 4% of final waste is conditioned to make it safe and stable.
Today, 10% of the nuclear-generated electricity in France comes from recycled material. In future, with the multi-recycling currently under R&D, this figure will reach around 30%. Orano’s know-how is recognized internationally and is good for export.
