Job description

TN Americas, a subsidiary of Orano USA is a leader of the American nuclear dry storage market.  The company offers a complete line of products and related services to the transportation, storage, and engineering sectors operating in the fuel cycle materials market. 

Orano/TN Americas is seeking a CNC Cutting Machine Operator (Laser/Plasma/Waterjet) to support the metal fabrication activity in its nuclear fabrication facility.

The CNC Cutting Machine Operator will perform a variety of fabrication tasks including but not limited to:

  • Retrieve raw material and prepare for cutting operations. This may include removing mill-scale or oxidation and position material on or in machine
  • Perform rigging, either by assisting or leading the task, to transport parts through the facility
  • Perform equipment setup, select proper tooling, set and/or adjust machine feed rates and speeds
  • Operate CNC equipment using Manufacturer’s recommendations
  • With supervision, interpret drawings/specifications to understand dimensional requirements and production sequence
  • Routinely check/gauge work per established methods and intervals and makes routine adjustments to maintain specified tolerances and throughput requirements
  • Obtain initial and periodic independent inspections of machining steps and work performed
  • Clean, polish, deburr, and stamp parts using hand tools or other prescribed methods
  • Maintain all required documentation, records, and logs
  • Assist with routine maintenance of machinery, to include chip removal, machine lubrication and coolant additions/cleanout
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment - Play active role in creating a safe and healthy workplace
  • Comply with all plant rules, policies, and procedures, written or verbal
  • Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures
  • Work flexible hours and shifts to ensure timely customer delivery
  • Utilize principles of Lean Manufacturing
  • Support other areas based on production needs, as directed by management

Ideal qualifications

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this  opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.

  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the particular field.
  • Demonstrated ability to read & understand basic drawings, oral & written instructions, and computer menu instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to use/interpret basic shop inspection tools and manually record/computer input associated data.
  • General mechanical aptitude/ability & basic knowledge of machine tool operations.
