Orano - Annual Activity Report 2025 156 4 SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT Environmental information Actions to reduce scopes 1 and 2 In 2025, the group continued its efforts to reduce its energy footprint. The main actions concerned: ● substitution of fossil fuels and electrification of uses: continued commissioning of electric boilers at Orano la Hague; ● energy efficiency: ● stoppage of superheated water production also at the Orano la Hague site, ● optimization of ventilation and facility management at the Orano Tricastin site; ● the decarbonization of electricity in countries with a high emission factor (Kazakhstan, Canada), directly or through project financing (RECs): the continued coverage of Katco’s and Orano Canada’s energy consumption by renewable energy certificates. In 2025, Katco covered its entire electricity consumption with renewable energy certificates (RECs). These actions have helped reduce the group’s scopes 1 and 2 market-based emissions by 41% vs. 2019. Sorexa’s solar power plant in Trekkopje has been officially in operation since August 2025. This plant supplies electricity to the Erongo desalination plant, owned by Orano Mining Namibia. This project is part of a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA). 2025 IN ACTION Stoppage of superheated water at the Orano la Hague site In order to meet its energy efficiency commitments, Orano la Hague launched a project in 2022 to shut down the current superheated water preparation unit, as it consumes too much energy and is oversized for the site’s needs. The preparation unit in fact provides 2 times more power than necessary in winter and can reach 3 times more in summer. This action should ultimately reduce energy consumption by 35 GWh, i.e. nearly 8% of the site’s consumption. Mobilization to reduce scope 3 in partnership with the suppliers This work continued in 2025 with concrete action on: ● mobilization of the main suppliers on a common approach to reducing their impact as part of their activities on behalf of the group: ● the collection and analysis of the decarbonization ambitions of more than 170 of the group’s suppliers, representing 50% of the footprint of purchases of goods and services, ● mobilizing suppliers at partner days organized by Orano or during the annual business reviews; ● solicitation of low-carbon alternatives in calls for tenders: the study of “low-carbon” offers for certain strategic projects. The collection of emission factors specific to suppliers’ activity helps make progress towards a better estimate of the scope 3 footprint. The share of emissions calculated on the basis of supplier data was maintained in 2025 at 28%. By the end of 2025, 49 of the 80 suppliers with the highest emissions in 2025 (representing around 50% of Orano’s upstream scope 3 carbon footprint) committed to a decarbonization trajectory by 2030 or 2050. 2025 IN ACTION Integration of supplier emission factors in scope 3 accounting Orano has been measuring its scope 3 since 2019 and has been engaging its suppliers in the decarbonization of their activities since 2023. In 2025, data collected on the monetary intensities of suppliers in the “building construction, carpentry, and roofing” and “equipment repair and installation” purchasing segments enabled their data to be integrated in place of the ADEME’s emission factors. This first step is necessary in order to be able to see the actions of its suppliers in the group’s results. For 2026, continued work is planned to pursue the eco-design of future projects, in particular by promoting “low-carbon” offerings and industrializing specific data collection from our suppliers. The effort towards the most emitting suppliers that have not yet defined a decarbonization strategy will continue. The Responsible Purchasing policy, finalized in 2024, specifies the actions implemented and their monitoring. The “Reducing the environmental impact of our purchases through the commitment of suppliers and the circular economy” pillar aims to extend Orano’s commitment to the environment to its Upstream value chain. Eco-design industrial projects of more than 20 million euros The group is experiencing momentum in the growth and renewal of its facilities. Aware that the environmental footprint depends on the design, since 2021 Orano has been conducting a systematic ecodesign approach for all its industrial projects exceeding 20 million euros. A joint team of engineers and environmental specialists supports projects by identifying major environmental issues, identifying and selecting relevant actions tailored to the project, and measuring environmental gains. Nearly 50 projects were supported. In 2025, the group also: ● finalized 16 additional documents to the standard, in particular the general eco-design rules for the business lines and more specific subjects such as the comparison of different metal alloys for piping, structures by work types, or the potential related to waste heat recovery; ● organized information sessions for business line teams and project managers and training sessions for eco-design representatives.
